Thriving Families
Leelanau Township is a magical place to grow up and to live. But we are losing our young families, who cannot afford to live here and cannot find well-paying jobs with benefits. Our iconic farms are facing major challenges, including aging farmers and rising costs.
I believe Leelanau Township should:
- Work hard to develop additional housing that is affordable for our young families and for seniors who no longer want or need larger homes. We desperately need rental housing.
- Support our EMS. We lack local medical care in our township. Fortunately, we do have excellent emergency care from our Paramedic/Firefighter team, who are available to us 24/7. Voters overwhelmingly passed the supporting millage 4 years ago, but the current supervisor wants to cut the available millage, jeopardizing this vital service.
- Work to bring additional job opportunities in Leelanau Township. Support and work with our Chamber of Commerce.
- Work to preserve our farms and assist farmers to pass their farms on to family or to new farmers; Allow additional activities that could bring more income to our farmers.
Environmental Preservation
I will prioritize the preservation of Leelanau Township's natural beauty for all to enjoy.
