Open Government
These are fast changing times, and Leelanau Township needs to keep abreast of changes that will impact the quality of life for our residents. Government should not be done in secret. The best decisions require input and support from all our citizens.
As Township Supervisor I will advocate for:
- The spirit as well as the letter of the law of the Open Meetings act must be followed, with timely notification of meetings and major decisions.
- The participation of as many residents as have interest in shaping the future of Leelanau Township, though appointments on committees
- Open dialog between citizens and government – more discussion will mean better solutions to problems
- Frank discussion of problems facing the township – such as rising property values, lack of housing, how to increase opportunities to make a better living, and allowing families to be able to stay here and thrive.
